Looking for: Non-fiction that will appeal to anyone engaged with the issues in today's world, particularly millennials and younger. Memoir, if it's about an extraordinary life or very well-written. Commercial fiction, love stories, stories about friendship and relationships. Also looking for novels in the sweet spot between commercial and literary but there has to a compelling plot.

Florence's list spans fiction and non-fiction but on the commercial side for both. She is keen to find non-fiction writers who speak to a younger, millennial audience, be that a journalist who is looking to expand an idea, or perhaps an activist with a social media platform. Florence is actively looking for writers who are under-represented in the publishing world, through non-traditional channels, and in her submissions. She is always interested in environmental and social issues.

Equally, one of her favourite things to do is escape her day-to-day with a story she cannot put down: of having to read just one more chapter. Characters (real or fictional) can stay with her for years. She has spent memorable hours weeping over the last pages in beautiful, heart-wrenching memoirs such as When Breath Becomes Air and The Last Act of Love.  Florence adores clever, gripping page-turners with complicated and flawed characters we haven’t met before, but comforting and funny classics like Georgette Heyer’s Regency novels will always be her cup of tea.
